As your class counselor, Markel Malykin, I wanted to congratulate you and guide you on your way one more last time. Now all of you seniors who are culminating, are making a huge life decision; should I go to college or go for a career straight out of high school? What I mean by this is are students going to go jump right into the workforce or are they going to take their time now to build stepping stones to a career. When you go to college for a degree you can expect to get a pretty good paying job with that degree. For example, the average annual income of a college graduate is about fifty thousand dollars. This is pretty good considering the average family income in america is 50k annually. For example, a career straight out of high school averages thirty thousand dollars annually which is not always the case though, because there are many filthy rich people that didn 't go to college at all but that is very rare and unlikely. When a student goes into college they are taking steps that will eventually guide them to a career, while a person who chooses to work straight out of high school chooses what is already there or given to them. Most of the time, high school graduates have little to no opportunities for themselves straight out of high school which leads them to college because they do not want those low paying jobs, but in some rare cases students have better opportunities than college can ever offer and this usually happens if the student has special abilities or skills that set them apart from others.
