Congratulations birmingham community charter high school patriots, class of 2016, for making it through all 4 years! As your class counselor, Markel Malykin, I wanted to congratulate you and guide you on your way one more last time. Now all of you seniors who are culminating, are making a huge life decision; should I go to college or go for a career straight out of high school? What I mean by this is are students going to go jump right into the workforce or are they going to take their time now to build stepping stones to a career. To help you answer this ancient question that has been thought about by every graduating high school student, I will be comparing and contrasting careers that one might pursue straight out of high school and careers …show more content…
When you go to college for a degree you can expect to get a pretty good paying job with that degree. For example, the average annual income of a college graduate is about fifty thousand dollars. This is pretty good considering the average family income in america is 50k annually. For example, a career straight out of high school averages thirty thousand dollars annually which is not always the case though, because there are many filthy rich people that didn 't go to college at all but that is very rare and unlikely. When a student goes into college they are taking steps that will eventually guide them to a career, while a person who chooses to work straight out of high school chooses what is already there or given to them. Most of the time, high school graduates have little to no opportunities for themselves straight out of high school which leads them to college because they do not want those low paying jobs, but in some rare cases students have better opportunities than college can ever offer and this usually happens if the student has special abilities or skills that set them apart from others. So unless you have special skills, abilities, or opportunities that can get you a high paying job, I suggest you go to college if having a stable financial position is something you desire in the …show more content…
When you go to college for four years, you can expect to get a pretty good paying job with that hard earned degree. For example, A student goes to college and gets his four year degree in Psychology which lands him a job in the best counseling program in Los Angeles. This is a big plus because now the student has a job averaging 50k annually, and it wouldn 't be possible without that
