Boom! A sound that may be heard while firing a weapon during training in the military or the sound of the bass from a party in college. The military and college life are very different in how life is lived from a day to day basis and different with the kind of person that you are. Personally think that joining the military is the better, smarter decision, but like college it isn’t for everyone. College is made to seem mandatory in today's society, but there are much better option out there then going to school for an additional two, four, or more years. Ever since I was a young kid, I’ve always been interested with the military. Whether is was me and my brother playing and acting like we were soldiers or me playing war with army men figures, …show more content…
I’ve also had an insane amount of respect for our soldiers and I want to make a difference in the world other than sitting in a classroom all day. There are many benefits involved with joining the military, but the Marines in particular. …show more content…
People have to go to college! It’s what we have all heard since we got into school, when in reality you don’t. Like the military college isn’t for everyone, but for the ones that go to college with purpose and want to be there, it will benefit them. One of the greatest things about college is that is will look good for a job. Jobs will look where you graduated and see how you did throughout the college career. But just because you go to college does not give you an automatic job. Many kids in this country, especially in Findlay graduate, are pressured into college because that’s all they hear about, then drop after the first year. About thirty percent of Findlay High School graduates do not return after their first year (Wilin) . This just shows how pushed college is on kids. A lot of colleges, but not all, are very expensive and will put students and graduates in debt. Depending on that college and the cost of it, and if you work or come from a wealthy family, debt may vary (Dumbauld.) . I am not saying that the military is for everyone either. The workforce would also be a great path to choose after graduation. If someone is going to college because they genuinely want to and learn to further educate themselves for life and their job, then do it and pursue your dreams. If they’re going because everyone else in their class is doing it and they feel pressured, then take a year, get a job, and then make that decision

About 40 years ago, the American public decided that the only way to be competitive and gain an advantage in this world was through a college education. Higher education has been lamanted as “an economic imperative”(Owen and Sawhill 208) that can no longer be seen as optional or supplemental for people hoping to to attain a job in the workforce. This means that without getting a degree, you are not only shirking your responsibility as a functioning member of society, but you are also cutting yourself out of your own possible economic prospects. This relatively new attitude towards higher learning resulted in noticeable shifts throughout the country. We expanded college preparatory courses throughout the nation’s public schools and started…
