College Success Skills-Reflections Journal #1 One of the ways that I have always “locked on” to the incorrect information that I believe has resulted in me not being as successful as could have been up to this point is that I have “test anxiety”. I can know the material inside and out and still sit down to take the test and I go completely blank. After beginning this course I am learning how to take a deep breath and am able to give myself positive “self-talk” and I have completely shocked myself as to how much it has worked. I may not be a straight A student, but I feel I have come a long way and for once I feel like I am getting this problem under control and can and will be successful in my endeavor here at college and in anything else in my life that I may attempt. This class has really helped me in the way I approach a lot of things differently in my life. …show more content…
She then looked at me and said “you are at the same dead end job why don’t you go back to school?” This was definitely a defining moment in my life and I was able to picture myself going back to school and obtaining a career instead of just a job. I needed to set an example and follow my own advice. That is what led me to going outside of my comfort zone and enroll in college. I am so glad that I took this step. I have proven to myself that I can be successful in whatever I attempt in life. I have adopted the new saying that “it is better to have tried and failed than to never have tried at all.” I also have two young daughters at home and I hope I am setting a good example for them also that it is never too late to go after your
