Not only that but developing study skills and encouraging career and educational planning are also seen throughout the course (“Counseling Courses”). 1. When people think of the term “business,” they usually assume that it is the science of making profit. However, being a member of the business academy at Bergen County Academies teaches one more than how to generate profit; the experience opens your eyes to another way of interpreting the world. In sophomore year, I had the honor of competing with several other ABF students in Euro Challenge, a national competition where students formulate monetary policy recommendations based on the economic state of a nation in the Euro Area. Before Euro Challenge, my education in business mostly centered on memorizing various marketing terms and financial ratios.…
Once I graduated from high school, I made the decision to participate in Clark Atlanta University business program in order to receive my bachelor’s degree in business with a concentration of international business and marketing. Not only did he made sure the class was interesting but he inspired all of his students to continue to develop their knowledge in order to build wealth and have bright futures. Many of my classmates including myself plan to following in Kimbro footsteps by not only receiving B.A and M.A degrees in business but also a Ph.D. to ensure that we are knowledgably in the field and are consider experts. There are so many aspects to business as well as many career opportunities in this field which makes this a large discourse community.…
College is one of those things that is frowned upon if you do not attend, but it shouldn’t be: nearly 50 percent of college students dropout. There is a lot of controversy on whether college is worth the effort, the time, and the money. It’s not, if you think about it, the Federal government has backed over $1 trillion in student loans to young adults who are unemployed, underemployed, and will likely never have the funds to pay it back. Society today thinks that college is the only way to be prosperous because in schools they teach you that it is the only path to take after high school. As a matter of fact, college is not needed to be successful: “not every young person is suited for four years of college… they won’t get much out of it” (Reich 84).…
The only reason we are rushing to college to get a degree is to get a good paying job in the future, but employers from large companies like google care less if not at all about college gpa or which college you went to as stated my Max Nisen in this article, in the article Max states that google’s senior vice president of people operations Laszlo Bock explaining why college GPA or test scores aren’t nearly as important as people think: “In an interview with The New York Times' Adam Bryant, Google's Senior Vice President of People Operations Laszlo Bock explains that some of the biggest stalwarts of the hiring and recruiting world, the interview, GPA, and test scores, aren't nearly as important as people think.” (Max Nisen). In the article Max also states that the company doesn’t for GPA unless the person applying for the job position is a year or two out of college as academic success don’t correlate to the success at the company: “Google doesn't even ask for GPA or test scores from candidates anymore, unless someone's a year or two out of school, because they don't correlate at all…
Country music singer Jimmy Dean once said, “I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.” I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for providing me with a scholarship to attend Ohio Business Week (OBW). By doing so, you allowed me to “adjust my sails” and become one step closer to achieving my long term goal of becoming a successful businessman. Throughout the week, I had the chance to enhance my business skills far more than I could have in a classroom setting. We had numerous professional businessmen and women as guests at the camp and were able to inherit some of their knowledge and experience.…

I first became interested in the Burnett Honors College when I toured UCF. When I was informed about the opportunities this college would provide for me, I immediately became intrigued. For me, being in the Burnett Honors College seems to be the best natural progression from high school to college. In high school, I always took the more challenging and rigorous academic path, particularly in choosing electives.…

All throughout school, I was an average student. I got okay great, but really struggled with assignments. I remember getting so over whelmed by it all that my mom would have to help me with my school work. I would have to say that the grades that I would receive were like ‘speed bumps’ that discouraged me.…

My vision for academic success is that my students become more engaged in their learning as well as meet or exceed grade level expectations. To measure these two goals, I will first inventory my students’ current performance and dispositions towards learning. This will encompass gather assessment data, speaking with previous teachers, surveying my new students, and being a good listener of their daily class interactions during the first weeks of school. Once I have built of repository of information on where my students are currently at, I can start chartering mini-goals as well as long range goals for the semester.…
