College Student Sleep Observation

Sleep is a fundamental piece of human life and life in general, however, to a college student sleep becomes a luxury that has the value of precious jewels and metals. Sleep plays a part in the rejuvenation of the body as well as playing a part in learning only to further justify the importance of sleep to a college student. As an enrolled student who has a sixteen-hour credit load sleep is something important to me so actually observing the hours that I sleep and analyzing my sleep patterns was truly intriguing. I decided to observe a mix between my weekends as well as my work days to create a sample that would represent a combination of both the effects of classes and homework and the weekend which is more extracurricular activities. The first thing that I realized after completing the sleep journal was the fluctuation of hours that I slept. It would alternate for the most part between a large amount of hours such as ten hours to a lower amount more towards six. Looking at when these hours occurred it seemed to correlate with when I had classes in the mornings. The days where my classes started later in the day were followed by a fuller night's sleep compared to the days where my classes would start earlier in the day I would experience less …show more content…
This dream starts off by me imagining myself waking up on a Sunday morning back at home where I can hear my parents doing dishes and getting ready for church. This dream is more auditory than visual but it makes me feel safe and like a child again. Bulkeley 2013 says that thirty- seven percent of people dream of being a child again. I believe this to be the context of my dream although I have experienced this as an adolescent the way it makes me feel is more childlike. This could also be another example of my unconscious desires because I miss home and my parents a lot even though I do not say this aloud or think about it a
