In 1980, Malcolm Knowles coined the term “Andragogy”. Andragogy, is the second concept of learning. It’s more focused on helping adults, in particular, learn. Knowles, realized that when it comes to adults… they learn what they need to learn, when they need to learn it. In turn, this must affect the way they learn, and the curriculum used to help them do so (Bethel University, 2013. p.9). It’s a more hands-on style of learning, that uses life experiences to help you comprehend what you’re taking in.

It’s being open minded to new things, or new ways to do things. It’s having a thirst for more knowledge everywhere you go, in anything that you do.
There are four attributes to lifelong learning. Investigation, analytical thinking, effective communication, and collaboration (Bethel University, 2013). Most of us already possess these attributes, but just don’t use them to aid ourselves in everyday learning.
Many people are stuck in their ways, and feel that they already know how to do something, so why learn a new way to do it? However, most people that put themselves in a learning environment are young, and have no reason to be set in their ways. They have more than enough time to learn new things, and put them into use.
