Personally, I have had any obstacles in my life, but in order for me to keep rising I have to get past them. While climbing I am trying my best in all of my school work and preparing myself for the future so I can get to where I want to be. For example, I am making sure that I get all A or B grades in my classes so I would be accepted into a college. Making sure you know how to prepare for what could be ahead is good for achieving your dreams.

Some obstacles that caused me to slip while climbing would be bullying. I was bullied towards eighth and ninth grade for reasons that I’m

In Peter Cappelli’s Paper “Why Focusing Too Narrowly in College Could Backfire” Cappelli writes about how students that specialize in college may be doing themselves a disservice. Cappelli writes that the way students are currently going about getting specialized degrees is flawed and can be a creating disadvantages for future efforts in life be it more schooling or finding a job in the fields. Cappelli states that “Schools, in turn, are responding with new, specialized courses that promise to teach skills that students will need on the job.” this is a statement on schools trying to create programs for hot jobs.…

I agree to your point that, there "will be" obstacles if you strive or aim for something. However, one cannot succeed without aid. Frederick Douglass reached his goals with the help of his en-slavers, neighbors, and co-workers. His success was also obtained through bravery, intellect, and perseverance. Frederick is an excellent model for learners who are making great efforts to learn.…

A time where I faced an obstacle was how I didn’t make OCDA. OCDA is a choir event where you audition and compete against other students around the state of Oklahoma. Taking private lessons helped to prepare for the audition. Compressing your time in practicing is a hard thing to accomplish. In the year past, since I made OCDA seemed like a possibility, however not being one of the finalist was a real setback.…

In the prior reading, Tough explicates that the college conundrum is the increase in college dropouts in America, even when the value of a bachelor degree has skyrocketed, and graduate rates in other countries have dramatically expounded. Throughout the chapter, Tough sought to determine the causes for this complication. From his findings, he was able to uncover the notion of the achievement gap, and its effect on the output for graduates. For instance, he presents this concept in the words of Jeff Nelson, by which he writes, “The average incoming score of our students is hovering around a fourteen, or the tenth percentile …. what I do believe is that ninety percent of the population is reaching a better education than our students have received”…

Some challenges I’ve had to overcome start with me needing to get my life fixed. I used to be the student in high school that didn’t care about how they looked or what grades they got. I had no self-confidence in who I was and I had no aspirations on what I wanted to do with my life. Once high school was over life hit me and I needed to stop being the person I was because it was getting me nowhere in life. Now that I changed my attitude and my lifestyle I now get good grades and I finally feel that I have a clear future for…

I have chosen to apply to the University of Central Florida because it will provide great opportunities out of school and while I’m still in school. Another reason I have chosen to apply is because it is far enough away from home to where I can gain my independence and find who I am without my parents around and because it is close enough to where in the event of an emergency I can still be home fairly quickly. In my life there has been multiple obstacles/bumps in the road in both my academic and personal life. Staring with my academic obstacles, both my elementary and middle school were not the best and left me with many gaps in my education, such as in math and science.…

There are a couple of obstacles that have played a major role in me becoming who I am today. I've had naysayers trying to negatively influence my thoughts, and crush my dreams by saying that said I will never amount to anything, or that I should give up on my dreams and get realistic with my goals. A couple years ago I was a completely different person. I was out of shape physically, my academic performance was very poor, and I had a terrible attitude. I improved greatly in athletics and my academic career.…

When walking onto a college campus, every freshman knows that a multitude of challenges lay ahead: making new friends, pay off loans, and balancing school and work. Though these are all obstacles, I believe biggest challenge is being prepared for college. Typically, the students with supportive parents, motivation, and career goals are going to be ready for all that college can throw at them. These students ace their AP and college-now classes or are honor students; they represent the small percentage of students that are likely to succeed, about 43% according to the College Board. What about students who aren’t self motivated and don’t have supportive parents?…
