College Kid’s Nutrition
Nutrition as whole has become a problem in this country. Obesity is sitting at over 35% in the country according to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases. Unfortunately this problem doesn 't seem to going away anytime soon. It 's only growing like the waste bands of Americans with new burgers and other greasy foods coming out daily. If a cheeseburger wasn 't bad enough for you BK wants to add butter to it. What a time to be alive right? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that 5.2 million college students in the U.S are overweight or obese. The numbers only get bigger once we graduate and move on to more adult things in life. If you 're like me you probably ate all kinds of things growing up; fast food, home made delights, and the glorious Halloween candy. Some of you probably still partake in all of those. I 'm willing to bet though that fast food consumption has gone up exponentially since getting into college. If you drink red bulls and monsters all day to get you through another lecture, you 're dumping tons of sugar into your body. Kris Gunners from Authority Nutrition states that sugar is a leading contributor to obesity in both children and adults. Gunners has strong feeling about sugar in his article “Why Sugar is Bad for You”. He believes it 's the single worst ingredient to add to food. Yes sugars are good for you but it 's all about getting the correct sugars in your body. Those 4 sugar packets you just dumped into your coffee aren 't going to do you good.
