The Journey: High school to College College is something that everyone wants or wishes to attend but most do not have the willpower to start or finish the journey. Most all seniors in high school say they want to attend college, but in reality only 65.9 percent of seniors actually go to college. I want to be a part of that percentage for many reasons: One, college is a fun and amazing experience that everyone should get the chance to enjoy it, Two, in today 's world in order to get the good job you want, you need to have a college education with a degree in your field, and three college is something that not everyone can say they went to. I went to school and everyday when I got home I knew that there was work to be done. There was a list of chores that I had to do everyday and I was not able to eat dinner until I finished. Most people are not raised like that and aren 't taught the things I was taught. By the time I was 11 years old I was able to drive a little tractor to carry hay to the back pasture to feed the dry cows. Some of my family members told me and my parents that making me do all this work was not going to do anything for me and was not going to give me an advantage in life, but I felt like they were all wrong. It has taught me that when a situation gets tough and you have no idea what to do, as long as you commit to a decision and you go all in, you can never fail. So when I turned 16 I asked my parents if I could get a job outside of our family to make some extra money so I can spend how I please. They agreed and so I started looking around. A teacher at my school hears about my job hunt to make some extra cash, well he tells me his brother owns almonds and could use a good weekend worker. I called up his brother and I explained to him why I was calling, what I wanted, and what I am capable of. At the end of the phone call I asked when he wanted me to come in for an interview. When I was about 2 years old, my mom and dad split up. My mom got custody of me and we both moved in with my uncle and his wife because we had nowhere else to go. My mom had to work to jobs to put me through daycare and help pay bills. My real dad also had his own job and helped take care of me to. About a year after she split up with my father she met my step-dad and they have been together ever since. What came next in my life was the hardest thing I ever had to go through. I was only 8 years old when my father passed away two weeks before my 9th birthday. He was 38 years and had a complex heart disease that no one knew about along with diabetes. After his death I was down and depressed and did not really want to do much because of what had happened. I started thinking to myself what he would want me to do in this situation, so I stopped moping around and started to get my head straight with sports and school. He is still what pushes me today and I am thankful that even though he is gone he can still be with me to help my along this

Hardworking, trustworthy, selfless, determined, and helpful… I believe that I have demonstrated these qualities exceptionally throughout my high school career. A glimpse at my exquisite grades that I have kept in four years of challenging classes reveals not only my effort, but my endless determination as well. Despite all of the energy that I directed towards my own success at school, I was always willing to help others who struggled in their classes, especially in math and science. Also, I put time and effort into my extracurricular activities in order to benefit my school’s community. I painted a mural of the Mt. Hope Bridge to beautify a conference room, helped plan countless events for the entire student body, from spirit weeks to…
