Failure is not unusual but having the courage to get back up and fight for what I believe in is indeed unusual. Much earlier in my studies, I have surmounted tremendous hardship which caused me to drop out of college. I have migrated to America in the early 2000s with my family seeking a better life because my country did not have much to offer. While I attended Rockland Community college I became pregnant, as a result I entered the work force trying to make end meet to prepare for the arrival of my child; since then life has not been the same. "Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty and persistence" I have had many ups and downs over the course of my life thus far. One specific example of this took place during my freshman year of high school. When I started high school it was very challenging for me, partially due to the fact that; during this time, I was lazy, unmotivated and did not really take school seriously. This by far is one of my biggest regrets to this day. Who would ever think that not trying during my freshman year would continue to follow me throughout the course of my academic career.…

Everybody goes through a point in life were dreams are big and hopes are high. We think about what we want to achieve; however, the reality of life often crushes our dreams and aspirations. As children, our parents mean the world to us; they know everything and always have the answer, but as we grow older our view of them changes. Idolizing someone can often lead to disappointment. For example, in the novel the Glass Castle, Brian thought very highly of his father, Rex,- Brian believed him when Rex told him that things would get better; he believed that his parents relationship was merry.…

From a young age, like the author, high expectations have been placed upon me, and vigorous measures were taken by my parents to ensure that the best education was available to me. Because I was expected to be a high functioning student, the vision my parents had of me allowed them to shape me into what they had envisioned. But, like the author's situation, the doors for success were opened for me, yet I had to be the one to walk through those doors. There comes a point where age and independence takes over my mind as I was less privy to the words of my parents. During this time, personal accountability is now the driving factor of success.…

During my junior year I experienced failure. I had taken 3 AP classes and I was in cheer at my high school, and trying to figure out a balance between the two was difficult for me because it seemed like cheer took up a lot of my time and in the past other two years it had, but I had managed to still do well in my honors and AP classes. My junior year was another story, I struggled a lot at the beginning of the school year, and most of first semester was spent with me having an F sometimes more than one, and that was a failure to me because I had my heart set on going to a four college or university and I knew that if i had an F i wouldnt qualify.…

I have always been someone to never give up. I believe a lot of it has to do with being in the military and the way I had to work growing up. I also did not let failure get the best of me. I have heard people say that insanity is trying the same thing over and over with the same results, but what if you try each attempt over and over using a different method each time? The most unsuccess I have ever felt was transferring from the military to civilian workplace.…

A disappointment, loser, flop, or lack of success; whatever you call it, they all are the equivalent of what people might interoperate themselves as a failure. Striving to go through life without making any mistakes sits in the mind of many; on the other hand, viewing failure as an opportunity rather than an obstacle is where I stand. Many points given and having been seen by friends, family, and strangers are what have given me a different outlook on the way that failure is defined regularly. With the constant stresses that include society influencing what our life timeline should look like, family members expecting their dream to reflect upon one, and our own personal goals and strives. All this to corrupt our lives whether we have failed due to still being in community college for five years when it should’ve been two, quitting work carelessly without thinking of financial issues, or still living at home with parents.…

Sometimes A failure isn’t a failure at all it’s just a minor setback. I learned this at the beginning of my 10th grade year. My teacher had told my classmates and I that we were able to be dual enrollment students at Germanna Community College.
