What do most people think of when they hear the word, college? Normally, the thoughts that tend to come to one’s mind include success, wealth, and prestige. College will also mean the difference, to some, between being employed and earning a higher salary, due to having a degree; versus having no degree, thus, the unemployment checks and regret of not applying themselves in school. This makes college appealing to all, however, college is not for the faint of heart. A college environment will lead to stress in its student body causing many psychological disorders, such as anxiety and depression. These disorders are very common in students as they are vulnerable in their new environments causing a lack of will power to pursue the goals they have in graduating as they give up due to emotional barriers. Action must be taken against this killer of success in students. In order to lower the amount of college students dropping out of school, stress workshops need to be provided for every student, in turn, increasing college success rates. To understand the solution of this one must first understand where the problems stem from.
Stress is to mental problems as water is to plants. Without stress, mental problems cannot grow; just as plants cannot grow without water.
