College Is Not For Everyone Essay

Dr. Seuss once said “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.” Some people say that College is for everyone while others say that College is not for everyone. College is not for everybody in my opinion because some of the many reasons schedule conflicts, classroom complications, and career requirements. In the first place, college is not for everyone because of schedule conflicts. Conflicts between both, work and college are going to cause the student to drop out. According to the College and University Blog, Work Schedule Conflicts is one of ten reasons for college dropouts; if the school is already taking a back seat to the person’s job, it’s easy to say goodbye and drop out (College). Conflicts in schedules is a reason why college is not for everybody. In the second place, classroom complications are another reason that college is not for everyone. Classroom problems can eventually cause some college students to drop out. According to the Academic Leadership Journal, “In a given month, 11 percent of all students reported having something stolen, 1.3 percent of all students reported being physically assaulted, and 12 percent of all teachers reported having something stolen, 5 percent of these thefts occurring by way of force, weapons, or threats” (Carpenter). …show more content…
Not all jobs require a college degree as a career requirement on their resume. According to the U.S. Department of Labor Blog, “Having a college degree is more important than. . .. But there are still some occupations that don’t require a degree − and which pay good wages” (Filed). Some jobs that don’t require a college degree, but still pay good wages are Electricians, Plumbers, Construction Workers, and Web Developers. College isn’t for everyone, but especially not for the person that chose a job that doesn’t need a college degree as a career
