In the society that we live in today, many people are struggling in college financially and academically. College is not a mandatory educational intuition that we must legally attend like high school and elementary school for example. College is also not free. This means that all who do attend are serious about their education. These are all the more reasons why college students deserve a quality education. Whether it’s by car or train, college students have a priority of making it to class no matter what. This is for a vast number of reasons. For those students that work currently, they know that their financial aid is greatly affected by this. They will have to pay some type of balance towards their tuition as opposed to being financially covered by federal and state grants. The name of this method is called “direct instruction”. Greene stated “Direct Instruction seeks to convey a highly specific set of knowledge and skills to students through carefully planned lessons.” Greene goes on to state “There is empirical evidence that direct instruction improves test scores, raises academic achievement...” He also mentions how this method also works well for even the poor minority students who face the greatest educational challenges. Its education methods such as this one that help college institutions provide a higher quality education. Green also mentions that if schools don’t provide a good education, families might move away and property values will drop. Greene also talks about another technique that could better improve the education system known as “high-stakes testing”.
