This is because of the mass immigrations of course and with more waves some one had to say something. So in 1994 Bill Clinton was the first to put halt on Cuban immigration says the book “Harvest Of Empire:A History Of Latinos In America”. Yet they couldn 't stop the tide of immigration as these South American countries kept getting worse. Back in the late 19th century was very different says “Harvest Of Empire* there was “100,000 people, 10 percent of Cuba 's population, fled abroad to escape the upheavals of the independence war.” (Gonzales 109) but this was the early 19th century that sure does not have an effect on current or previous happenings right? Wrong, the first 100,000 Cubans who came here were very poor so to help them live their lives they had to work in cigar factories that were fairly new that the Spanish and Cubans were setting in New Orleans. Yet these Cubans were not the rich and intelligent Cubans from later on but the poor who could no longer bare the stress of their homeland yet they bare new burdens in America. These Guatemalans, Salvadorans, Nicaraguans and so much more, these migrants came to the Americas with the same needs as other Migrants be it a pursuit of happiness or money. The Central Americans have settled in America and have placed their culture deep into the wilderness of the streets, the mission is one of San Francisco 's places to visit with its culture spread all around with a mix or blend of different latin cultures. With the Salvadorans holding the main key to the eighth chapter in “Harvest Of Empire:A History Of Latinos in America” it gives a description of the reason why some left their homes of El Salvador that being a civil war that broke out causing lots of casualties and as more strife came so did power struggles in which assassinations had to be put in place. Same went for the Guatemalans who had bad political struggles caused by the inclusion of the U.S in their politics and many people besides fleeing to America also fled to Mexico just so they could escape the slaughter that was happening. In the end everyone who had to migrate be it a Mexican or Cuban or a Central American had their own bouts of struggle they had to traverse
