Each year, a handful of students are selected to be a part of a fund call the Daniels Fund. These students financially qualify for the scholarship which can provide them with essentially a free schooling. It is a really big and important matter to me and my future. As I look ahead, I really want to become a veterinarian. A vet goes through a four year school first and then goes on to attend another specific and intensive four years at graduate school. The challenge is getting into school and also finding out how to pay for school. As it stands right now, vet school is the hardest and the most expensive school to get into. By getting the Daniel 's fund scholarship, I will be able to have all of my undergraduate schooling paid for. That will allow me to have a job and save a large majority of that money for graduate school. The Daniel 's Fund Scholarship is a really competitive scholarship though and it is really important for me to continue to work really hard and prove that I am worth it and that I can earn the scholarship. If I were to ascertain that scholarship, it would be a huge aid to me financially and it would allow for me to graduate from undergraduate school in great financial standings which would relieve a lot of stress and anxiety from my

I am interested in the Early College Academy because it is a great opportunity. I understand that I will have to do a lot more work here than in other schools because of the college courses, but that does not matter to me. “I have to go here, dad. I just have to,” I told my father during our first tour of Colorado Mesa University’s campus. “I already feel like a Maverick,” I admitted as I straightened out my new CMU ball cap from the campus bookstore. It was a strange feeling knowing that I would no longer be Lakeland High School’s most spirited student, but there was excitement in knowing that I would soon show my pride for Colorado Mesa. I’m all too familiar with the process of finding a “purpose,” a quest that brought me to a meeting with my sophomore year Resident Director, Dylan Larke. As a first generation immigrant student, my university felt foreign and unwelcoming. My resident director listened as I painted my situation verbally; telling him that despite a lackluster first experience in college, I have this ardent desire to do more with my undergraduate career. I don’t remember the exact passage of our meeting, but it was through Dylan’s encouragement that I resolved to pursue active involvement on campus by running, and later elected, as a House Council Executive. My first leadership and student involvement in House Council led to a slew of campus involvement, specifically in Residential Life.…

Since I was little, I have been hypnotized by the stars. Each star twinkles in such a spectacular way, that when I would look outside my window, with my teddy bear in hand, I would have trouble picking my favorite one. As I prepare for college, the idea of college as a whole reminds me of the stars. The promise of a bright future, the chance to discover who I am as an individual, and exploring the curiosities that throbbed in my heart all those years ago are all feelings I experience when I think of college.…
