An added bonus to going through college is the career services that are presented to the students as they get closer and closer to graduating. According to PayScale, “the average salary of a mechanical engineer from the University of Oklahoma is roughly $73,000.” This is an estimate around the middle of an engineer’s career. However, PayScale asserts that for OSU, “the average salary after graduation of a mechanical engineer is $67,273.” A possible accountancy for this discrepancy between salaries could be the location and accreditation difference between the schools, and possibly how employers see the degree prestige of each college. According to What Are The Top 3 Things That Students Do For Fun At University Of Oklahoma, “There is so much to do here that if you aren’t having fun, you have nobody to blame but yourself.” The sheer amount of activities and organizations available should be able to draw even the most introverted person out into the campus life to truly enjoy it. Unigo asserts that “At OSU, there are as many activities and organizations for students as they could possibly make time for…” There is absolutely no way that a student could avoid being social throughout four years of college. Each college has their own way for a student to even create their own club/organization given enough people and authorization. According to Will Sledge, the freshman admissions officer for OSU, “An engineering major would require a student to take higher level math and science classes, while later in college; the student could move more towards classes that represent their chosen career path.” Of course a student going into any major would have to take the required classes, but they could differentiate later in their studies. As LaWanna Summers, the Tulsa rep for OU, asserted, “The same goes for any college. A student would have to take regular types of classes before they are able to split off into the fulsome of the types of classes that they would need to take before graduating in their specific majors.” Every college has the same infrastructure for education.
