College Essay On Roller Skating

I strongly believe that giving back to my community/school in one or another way is the most important thing outside of my academics and this is why I want to become an RA. At the age of thirteen I started my own roller skating classes. Being the instructor of a roller skating class and running the class by my own taught me to be leader, grow from my failures and gave me the opportunity to give back to my community. When I first started learning how to skate in the state of Washington, the teachers gave in a lot to the school in where I was getting trained and wanted to spread their passion. After moving to California I saw that Roller Skating was not that popular and I desperately wanted to change that. With this in mind, I started my own class at a community park. This is important because the RA’s have to help guide their residents in the right direction while making decisions for others and themselves. They also have to provide inspiration and support to their residents when needed and most of all they set an example for their residents on what is right and what is wrong. To become a good role model the RA’s should demonstrate confidence and leadership in different situations and should not panic in terms of emergencies. They should also communicate and interact with all their residents and should not treat certain residents differently. A good role model should show respect and concern for others because every resident will see if there taking people for granted, not showing gratitude or stepping on others to get ahead. Also the RA’s should have humility and the willingness to admit mistakes which is another important aspect of being an RA. When a mistake is made the RA should admit the mistake rather than trying to cover it up and learn from the mistakes. Being a good role model is an important aspect of being an
