Having been a free spirited wild child, gymnastics was perfect for me. I practiced twice a week for two hours. During each practice there was about five to six different activities we worked on. This included stretching, tumbling, bars, balance beam and my favorite, trampoline. There was never a dull moment in the gym.

My family ate Taco Bell on gym nights. I loved this small gesture. We would order drive through and eat in the car. I didn't mind, we were all working really hard and tired on these nights.
Sometimes my friends like to put me on the spot. They'd ask me to do a backdrops or back hand springs. We would do this to impress the boys. I was shy so any attention was good attention. I dominated the bars at school and enjoyed teaching the other kids how to swing all the way around, without falling off.
To this day I use techniques learned as a youngster in the gym to have fun. I keep active and sometimes pretend to be back on the balance beam. When walking on the sidewalk, I stay to the edge and see how far, and fast, I can go without falling off. I like to play games and having the precision to judge distance is just one the benefits gained from this sport.
I was somewhat devastated when my grades started to go down and I had to quit gymnastics. A lot changed for me after that. I tried other sports, but nothing excited me like gymnastics. The transition was long but eventually I was able to find another
