In 2008 a comparative study article was published in a scholarly journal entitled “Homeopathic versus conventional treatment of children with eczema. A cohort study.” In Germany, 118 children ranging from 1-16 years were recruited from primary care practices both homeopathic and conventional.
The patient’s or parents were given a questionnaire and asked to rate the eczema symptoms on a number scale and general quality of life. They were assessed at 0, 6 and 12 months. 54 children were treated with a homeopathic treatment and 64 with a conventional treatment. My daughter developed atopic dermatitis as an infant. It had no specific pattern. And I was unable to find any specific trigger. I would put colloidal oatmeal in her bath water and apply colloidal oatmeal based lotion to her rash. She was also prescribed Triamcinolone Acetonide cream, which is a topical corticosteroid. The both provided relief from itching and decreased severity. As she has gotten older, her flare ups have almost completely stopped. She did have one over the summer and was only treated with the colloidal oatmeal based lotion and it resolved
