College Essay On Active Duty

Graduating from high school I didn’t know what I wanted to do in life I had so many choices of universities to attend. I really didn’t like being in school too much and doing work or completing assignments or the hassle of doing projects. So when I was in high school recruiters would come and recruit people to join their branch of service. I ended up signing up for active duty for the army and serving three years, there are two different types of components which you can sign up for active duty which is an everyday job and reserves which is one time out of the month and two-week annual training, but you had to go through the process, which included taking the asvab, going through basic training and the schooling for the job that you signed …show more content…
We were shipping off into our basic training locations and I didn’t know anybody that was going to be there that I was familiar with. Basic training had several obstacles which included repelling from a wall, doing ruck marches with a heavy backpack on your back with all the things you would need if you’re in a foreign country or going to war and you have to walk long distances that prepared you for life situations. I also learned how to fire weapons and learned how to group with my weapon that I was shooting with which we had to shoot at target and make 28/40 shots to pass the obstacle. Everything that was taught during the 2-month period is to get you ready for any obstacle that you were going to face in any tactic or any problem. After graduating from basic training, I went to fort lee for my job training which was for 92y unit supply specialist. A u nit supply specialist is someone who keeps count of everything and basically distribute items that are needed for soldiers. Some of the things that are distributed are uniforms, boots, office supply, computers and other items. During the job training I learned how to do inventory and learned how to document what was provided for each individual
