Voice Essay How am I supposed to write about my voice when I am still trying to find it? I’ve sat here for the past half an hour pondering what the heck I could write about that would make me sound like me. After much debate and after writing and rewriting many sentences, I’ve decided to just express my feelings for something I have an undying love for; children. Hopefully my admiration for those tiny humans will scream “written by Olivia Silvernail!!” There is something so magical about little kids. Every time I am near one I can’t help but smile. I work at a preschool and I’m sure all my friends and family are exhausted of hearing me tell stories about those kids. I just can’t help it, they do the most adorable things and I always want to talk about them. It is the only thing I do on a regular bases that I always look forward to. No matter how exhausted, crabby, or stressed I am, I can’t wait to get to the preschool. Children have such a innocence and happiness about them that is contagious. Every time one of my …show more content…
They are so loud and obnoxious and you have to change dirty diapers!” If I am being perfectly honest, there is no one else that I would rather be working with. By teaching these kids important things now, we are impacting how they will treat others in the future. If I let kids say rude things to others, they will grow up thinking that it is okay. But if I am able to tell them that we need to respect one another, then my hope is that they will continue doing so. My hope is to help create a new generation of people that will make changes. We need people here after us that are going to protect our earth and make changes to save it. We are leaving the next generations with little to no natural resources left, so we need to teach them that innovation is good. They need to learn how to adapt and see the world as a beautiful place, but as a place that needs some extra help to keep it

After reading this chapter I had very mixed emotions. Growing up with a religious background and working at Children’s Rehab Center with kids that are diagnosed with mental, physical, and cognitive problems I believe that every human being is considered a person. No matter how small the human being is. The book states that a person is defined as “someone who is capable of psychological and social interaction with others, capable of deciding on a course of action and being held responsible for that action.”…

I have always loved being around kids. When I worked at a childcare center, I enjoyed being with the two-year-olds. Later on, when I was put into an infant classroom, I loved every bit of it. It has been a little over two years that I have not worked with infants. When I saw that we needed to observe a child, I automatically said I wanted to observe a newborn baby.…

In today’s society, not much thought goes into how an author finds his or her voice. Many think of it as a “natural” talent or something someone’s born with, but that is not the case. Only a few people understand the process behind developing one’s voice. Even though discovering one’s voice and identity are not normally viewed as abusive, in some cases the process behind it can be detrimental to one’s character. In Barbara Mellix’s personal essay “From Outside, In” and Richard Rodriguez’s “The Achievement of Desire,” both of the authors discover their writing voices due to their childhoods, which left them with psychological consequences affecting them throughout various points of their lives.…

The beginning of the speech built a relationship with the audience by describing average people’s activity with the words “you” and “me”. This part worked very well to gain attention and form a bond with the audience. Another good quality of this speech was the way it described the supporting materials. By referring to each supporting materials adequately, the speech gained credibility.…

When a speaker is using a source in his speech, it's because he is looking to enhance the credibility of his speech. If it sounds too good to be true, it's because it probably is. When a speaker want's to take his speech to the next level but doesn't want the audience to think he is plagiarizing; using an outside source is an option the speaker has at his disposal. Also, when a speaker uses a source, he is allowing the audience to track down the information he is providing.…

This incident also made me feel sad because of how much it still resembles today's America. Even though racism is less apparent today and African American people have more rights and representation in our society, there is still underlying racism in many parts of our life, especially the courtroom. There are too many cases of police brutality where the murderer is still walking free and still has their job. It is endearing to me that children will put apart their differences and help each other.…

As I stand to my feet, my mind starts to race at the speed of light before my feet move an inch. “I’m not going to say it right, I’m going to mess it up and be at the wrong end of every joke”. Slowly, I make what feels like my own funeral procession to the podium, there I stand and for a moment I feel heart palpitations causing all my veins to throb and my brow to slick with sweat. My words are in front of me, though the contents are not what concerns me; it is the movement of my lips, the air flowing through my vocal cords, and the unknown which cause such anxiety. It feels as though the rest of my high school career is to be thrown away, into a pit of mockery just as my first year was beginning.…

In a nation so diversified and complex, language has become one of the most salient and relevant topics in the United States, especially amongst power structures. Language is a powerful communication device that can depict some as weak while empowering others. The force of a person’s voice can determine how other people react to them and think of them. The use of language directly affects interactions between people by justifying or doubting the actions of an individual. Also, dialect creates a tremendous revelation of the identity of the individual.…

This current semester I had the opportunity to do a project that allowed me to visit one of my friend’s family to observe her three girls. I observed her three daughters to see how each one of them is developing. I was fortunate enough to have three different ages that are at different stages of life. One just started school, the other one is not in school yet and the youngest was born less than a year ago. It really opened my eyes to how two year differences can really impact the stage the children were at.…
