I endeavor to improve myself each day, and learning as much information as possible is a part of that. I am unwilling to stop learning just because I’ve received a diploma. The more I know, the more I can help others and assist in advancing the world, building towards an improved future.
Speaking of futures, furthering my education will open up numerous opportunities for me that would be unavailable should I choose to forego college. Many jobs require a Bachelor's degree or higher, which I plan on obtaining. I know that these degrees aren’t mandatory, but just because I don’t have to do something doesn’t mean I shouldn’t. I know it will take a lot of time and effort, but I am prepared to dedicate myself to my education. A few hours sacrificed a day for homework and studying is well worth it.
Finally, I want to further my education to make my family proud. As a first generation college student, I am exploring a path that wasn’t available to my parents. They sacrificed so much to get me to where I am today and to give me the opportunity to attend college that deciding not to go would almost be disrespectful. At the very least, it would be disappointing. I know my future is in my own hands, rather than the hands of my parents, but I know that they’re influence will always be a part of me.
