Transferring to University of Maryland, Baltimore County will allow me to achieve my goals both in educational and personal aspects. The institution has a Biological Sciences degree which allows me, as a soon to be graduate from Hagerstown Community College with an Associate’s in Biology, to pursue and finish the next level of post-secondary education, achieving a Bachelor’s degree. In addition to pursuing a degree in Biological Sciences, UMBC has many clubs and activities to be involved in which will allow me to create new friends and provide a way to network with other students that has the same goals as me. I strongly believe that at my local community college, most of the students and professors don’t share similar ideas and goals as me and was difficult to find and achieve things I want to do after college. Rushing through the halls, stepping from colored tile to tile, arms occupied with clothes and shoes for my rehearsal, I knew exactly where I was going. Despite my fixation on getting to the auditorium, a secluded room caught my attention; a room that appeared unrecognizable to my peers. Completely ignorant to what lied ahead my peers swam past, but my gut had signaled me, warning that this was something new and different.…

The paved sandstone walkways interweaved between the grand and antique structures of the campus like ornate streets of bronze. Opportunity hung in the air.…
