Going to college is an exciting experience for young adults. It is the pivotal point in time where you are able to make your own foot prints and leave your mark in the world. You are making choices that will decide your future or fate. With all this freedom there comes a lot of responsibility. Which will ultimately make your college experience a positive or negative experience. The choice is ours to make. In college you learn to balance your time between classes and other activities. If you can balance everything that comes with the college experience you will make the best of your college years ahead. If you cannot balance everything your college experience can be a rough road. The chances of death, assault, sexual assault, academic problems, and alcohol use disorders increase with heavy drinking: “About 1,825 college students between the ages of 18-24 die from alcohol-related unintentional injuries, including motor vehicle crashes” (“Death”). Almost “696,000 students ……. are assaulted by another student who has been drinking” (“Assault”). “Sexual assault or date rape happens to almost 97,000 college students between the ages of 18 and 24” (“Sexual Assault”). When in college students have academic problems they can lose their scholarships and even their desire to learn. Other consequences that follow with binge drinking or any kind of heavy drinking are “suicide attempts, health problems, injuries, unsafe sex, driving under the influence, vandalism, and involved with police” (“Other Consequences”). When police get involved and you are arrested the arrest goes on your record and if you end up going to jail that is a bigger red flag on your record. College students that are arrest in extreme cases are kicked out of school. If you end up going to jail it doesn’t just mean you are probably going to get kicked out of school but it is going to be harder to find a job. Honestly if you are going to drink make sure that you are old enough in the first place and when you are drink, drink
