College Basketball Observation Essay

The most recent college sporting event I have attended is the 2017 PAC 12 Men’s Basketball Tournament, which is the annual concluding tournament for the NCAA college basketball in the PAC 12 Conference. The dates for this four day tournament were March 8-11, 2017, the times varied for different sessions and rounds with the earliest game starting at 12pm PT and the latest game starting at 8:30pm PT. The first round and quarterfinal round both consisted of four games each, while the semifinal round had two games and the final round of course one game. This event was hosted at the brand new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The target audience I believe were college basketball fans, especially fans of the PAC 12 conference.

The ticket takers, ushers, security guards, and concession stand employees were all polite and greeted everyone they encountered. They all were helpful when I or another attendee had a question or problem. The other behavior I experienced which was unfortunate was unpleasant behavior from the usher in our section. She had no patience with spectators and was very short and rude with her responses when being asked a question. With a fun and exciting event such as this, I expect the staff’s behavior to reflect that. This helps with an even more pleasant experience during an event.

I would say transportation and parking would be the most inconvenient part of the T-Mobile Arena and attending an event here. The arena does not have a parking lot of their own. They suggest that you park at one of the nearby hotels surrounding the arena and either walk or take a tram if one is offered at the hotel, or use a ride share app to get there. One positive thing that the arena had planned out was an Uber pick up and drop off area. This made it easy for people to find their Uber rides when leaving and having a drop off area made people feel less hurried when trying to make it to the

Have you ever wondered how people get through a basketball game? As the encyclopedia says, “ Basketball, game played between two teams of five players each on a rectangular court, usually indoors. Each team tries to score by tossing the ball through the opponent’s goal, an elevated horizontal hoop and net called a basket.” (Donald) To survive a basketball game you need to do things before, during, and after a game. First, before the game.…
