College gives you the chance to make grown-up decisions about grown-up situations without a guardian being there to help every step of the way. Going away to college to get away from home is a topic discussed often amongst kids. High school is mandatory until a certain age, college is not. The amount of freedom a student will get when going off to college may be the sense behind the mind attending. Making the class involuntary will take out that fraction of kids that go for that particular reason. College students are no longer little children, now the young adult life has taken place. Now is the time to work, child labor does not exist because this is the adult life if a person wants to make a living for his or her family, working is the only option. A few attributes obtained when attending high school would be obedience and discipline. High school taught obedience by having a code of conduct every year, enforcing the rules, and abiding by the rules. Discipline was taught by having to go with whatever the teacher said and by having consequences for insubordination.College is the place to put all the things learned in high school to the test. By having mandatory attendance, class would be almost like highschool all over again.
