Instead of schools focusing their money going outwards towards sports too lessen the expenses towards such thing, and focus it more on our education. There is such a hefty price tag that comes along with college sports, but the main factor that attracts people to invest in such thing is that it can possibly open more opportunities. Opportunities such as “wide spread television coverage, multimillion dollar coaching contracts, and much more. Although this is a seemingly great business it is not the only one that should be focused upon, because even though it does all of the above, a student’s actual academics is a very crucial “fall back option” a student can rely upon. Exactly how students that are incapable of athletic abilities are supposed to take on entourages such as the ones being excessively invested in. There should be an equal amount of opportunities between these two education outlets, whether it being sports, or in class academics.
With statistics showing hat the “median athletic spending was nearly $92,000 per athlete in 2010, while median academic spending per full-time equivalent (FTE) student was less than $14,000 in these same universities”. This very large offset is what is limiting students to fewer opportunities within the actual colleges. College administration should start prioritizing clubs, and programs to help students with what they need, or at least provide a balance between the two different
