College athletes should not be paid to play. The first reason why college athletes should not be paid to play is because they are playing for a college not a professional sports team. Therefore, college athletes are there to get an education and to become the best athlete they can be. Many college athletes get full scholarships to big universities and colleges. However, for them to stay student athletes they must keep their GPA up. After all, they will end up losing their scholarship and their dream of becoming a professional athlete.
The second reason why college athletes should not be paid to play is because they are playing for themselves not the NFL. College athletes play to become higher-up for the sport they enjoy and love doing. Also, college athletes know they are not getting paid to play when they sign their student contracts.
