They are growing up and need to learn how to live on their own without mom and dad sending them money all the time, there is not time for a job. While the college coaches are making six figures, these athletes are lucky to even get 100 dollars. Many argue that Paying these athletes would lose competitiveness of the sports but they are wrong because, many professional athletes get paid by their performance, so it’s a competition to be the best you can be so you can get paid at the most possible. The money that these athletes make for their school, doesn’t even contribute to their universities at all because if they did their would be more academic opportunities in america. I think it is important to pay these athletes because, many don’t have wealthy parents that can support them while they are in college, these athletes have no one to rely on. Many of these athletes come from a different state, and don’t have near by family members to ask for funds, so these athletes are pretty much stuck on their own. These athletes out in 90 hours maintaining their sports, if they were to get a job it would be pointless because, they would only be able to work maybe 10 hours a week, and getting paid minimum wage can’t get you very far fro 4 years of
