Hardwork. Dedication. No reward
One of these doesn’t seem to connect with the others. If you are a working hard and dedicated to what you do, shouldn’t you receive a reward. That thought goes through the heads of college athletes, everyday. They live this story, putting in hard work and time into playing for their school, yet they receive nothing. All these athletes play for the organization known as the National Collegiate Athletic Association or the NCAA for short. The NCAA is a multi-billion dollar business. They accumulate all this money through college student athletes. However these student athletes get a 0% share, in all the money they earned for the company. That is a valid point but scholarships are not a currency. You can’t buy what you desire with scholarships. Scholarships are not a form of payment, that can give the student the food, or entertainment he needs. These students need to be paid with a legit currency valid for any purchases they’d like to make. Also though it might seem as the scholarship benefits these students, in reality it will benefit the school more. Giving a student free education cost neither the college or student anything. Colleges actually only gives scholarships to those students which they see as a method of revenue, students that can earn their school some money. In this situation they give talented youngster athletic scholarships so that in the future when they go pro, they donate money back to the school. The second reason for that these athletes should be paid is because this is more than just a sport to them, it’s their career. A average employee in the USA works about 40hrs a week. These college athletes put in between 40-60 hours of work a week. That shows that they actually put in more hours into their sport, than an employee does into his
