The community health meeting mainly focused on mental health education. The topic of mental health education was an excellent topic of focus, because education is one of the pillars of public health. Many stakeholders stated that there is still a stigma about mental health, but that through education, the stigma can slowly deteriorate. Specifically, the stakeholders mentioned that students need to be taught the symptoms of mental illness because students may merely regard their symptoms (e.g., trouble concentrating) as part of the college experience. Educating students about the signs of mental illness can spark up a conversation on mental illness, since people may realize that they need help or others need help.…
As a freshman in college I have a fair amount of knowledge in literature. I do quite a bit of reading while in college and on summer breaks. College is so stressful to college students because for some people it is the first time in their lives that they are expected to think for themselves. All throughout high school teachers told everyone what to do, how to do it, how to do it right and when to do it. College does not do that at all and it is hard to change to that lifestyle. It is different to not have a teacher right beside helping, to remind things, and to actually sit down and help when they are needed.…

You become more sensitive to your surroundings because your body feels like it is being threatened at all times. Furthermore, these feelings go on to affect the small things in our everyday life such as introducing yourself or even writing a simple email to someone you do not know very well.…

If I were to put together a survival pack for college I would include many, many essentials that I or any other college student would indefinably need to survive college. First, I would put in vouchers for free coffee at any Starbucks café because I know that I nor any other college student cannot go without coffee for more than a couple hours. Next, I pack a daily planner since when an individual goes off to college their schedule is extremely chaotic and every hour and minute have to be planned out to be able to survive in college. Then, I would pack some multivitamin gummies because whenever in college, students tend to eat awfully unhealthy and do not receive enough of their required vitamins. Lastly, I would pack free massage vouchers…

My experience of stress can be best described as a rollercoaster, steadily climbing and once at the top it can plunge down and back up and to the left and to the right, almost as if the stress is controlling the ride. Stress has changed over the years as well. My early childhood life didn’t include the worry of life, but the concern of self. I grew up as a very shy individual and was constantly scared to talk or speak in many situations. I am not sure how or why I was a shy individual, but it was a big stressor during my early development.…
