The older I got, the more baseball has become competitive to me. Baseball is more than just a game to me, it is more like a lifestyle. High School Sports Should high schools be all about education, and grades? I couldn’t see myself getting up in the morning excited to learn trigonometry. Let alone be happy in a place like my school. My point would be that I only come to school because I find motivation in the sports that this school has to offer. I tell myself I have to turn my homework in, or I need to read this page, and study so I can pass my test to play Friday night.…

Basketball has been a part of my life as I have played it since I could remember. I was in the school’s team year after year and was even drafted for the team as high school came. However, a bike accident prior to the regional tournament took a toll on my body. The lower pelvic of my right foot was injured and could no longer withstand the stress of playing basketball. All hopes and expectations of playing in the high school team were shattered.…

There are many things that shape me into the person I am today. But there is only one occasion that solidly marked my transition from my childhood. I was bored, walking alone one afternoon around the new neighborhood I had just moved in, when a ball slowly rolled to my feet. Casually, I kicked it back and somehow it turned to an amazing goal. The kids applauded and pulled me in for a random soccer game.…

In the 21st century, it's common to know at least one person that does drugs, whether it be a friend or a family member. Among those people are athletes and high school students in general. Knowing this, I do not think high school sport players should be obligated to take regular drug tests. Playing a sport professionally and playing a sport for a high school are two different things. One big difference is that professional players make a lot of money, while high school players don't make any profit.…

Most families believe that some student-athletes should play, but finish college and join the workforce. Participating in Panther Athletics has had a tremendous role in making me into the person I am today. It was my senior year of basketball and it was just getting started. This was it, my final year where we were going to win State and I was going to get a college scholarship. I had prepared all summer and in the preseason, nothing was going to get in my way. Our team was smaller this year and lacked the skill we had in the previous years, but that just meant I was going to have to step up even more. Over the last few years specifically, college sports have been rapidly gaining popularity in the United States. Crowds of up to 75 thousand paying fans squeeze into massive college stadiums and arenas to watch teenagers perform a sport they have dedicated much of their lives to. Some people may even argue that college sports are over overshadowing major professional sports in the realm of popularity. Students in college are solely playing for their love of the game and not millions of dollars. These student athletes’ performance on the field generates millions of dollars for their colleges in every season.…

Being a student athlete is a wonderful thing in high school, despite a lot of people only acknowledge the athlete part and not the student part. I believe that academics come first and if a high school student wants to be an athlete, then getting good grades should be a requirement. It should be mandatory for teachers and coaches to check the grades of student athletes weekly to determine whether students are performing academically well or not. The students that aren’t doing well should be dismissed from any further games and practices until their grades improve. It is important that student athletes maintain good grades because the work that they put into their school performance carries with them through life, putting too much of an emphasis…
