I concur in the quote by Mother Teresa, “If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one.” Even though I myself have not made a direct global change, the work I have done through Interact and the advisory committee of Sunnyvale, I have been able to give back to the world I am so privileged to live in. Doing community service gives me utmost satisfaction and keeps me grounded. In December, with my advisory committee, I wrote Christmas cards to orphans who are not fortunate enough to spend the holidays with their families and we ran a gift drive to let these children know that they are loved and they matter. Seeing the smiles and laughter on these kid’s faces gave me so much joy and even though it wasn’t much at all, I know that it made a difference in their day. I am so lucky and blessed to live the life I am living today and while spending one day with these kids can never be enough, I know that I made a difference in their day.
