Lacking trust in people is not something that you are born with. You develop these overtimes from past experiences as well as something you have seen …show more content…
We were all cool and chilling with each other. We all telling each other about stupid stuff we have done in our childhood. Next thing I know is I went from laughing to giving the death stare to a friend that I started to look more like she was against me. She had told the group about a topic that she just so happened to witness take place in my house. They had swore to not tell anyone because it would not only embarrass me but a couple of my family members as well. Mrs. Forbs was standing in front of the class waiting for everyone to quiet down. The class was a bunch of sixth graders, so it took a while to make us be silent. The day felt weird for me, I had my same robotic schedule but for some reason something didn’t feel right. I thought it had something to do with the food I ate for lunch, I would be prepared to head down to the bathroom or even nurse if that was the case; however, what happened that day no sixth grader would be able to prepare for.…

It is often said that teenagers begin discovering themselves in high school, but I did the opposite- I lost myself. The source of my pleasure and delight shifted from books to parties, writing to boys, and video-games to my social life. Something within me desperately craved to be normal- to no longer be the girl that gets harassed and ostracized for being an “appalling nerd” and because of this, vital aspects of my personality began to change and I morphed into an entirely different person. Through this journey, I learned that my self-hate was a catalyst for self-love and appreciation. Having always been considered an unusual girl in the eyes of my peers, I'd never been truly comfortable in my skin.…

A couple years ago, there was a girl at my school that nobody liked, and I am going to call her Katie in my story. She was ostracized by all of my peers, and she was not included in conversations, events outside of school, or at lunch tables. One day, during school, we were sitting in the classroom at indoor recess. A group of my friends were huddled together, whispering and giggling. I was born in Germany with a German mother and an American father. The benefit of being born into a German family and living in Europe for the first ten years of my life was the greatest privilege I experienced throughout my sixteen years of living. However, my father was in the military at the time causing for a slight pressure to always be prevalent for the duration of my younger years. This mainly revolved around the fact that my sister was able to grow up in Germany and I wanted that same opportunity. Soon after these aspirations were formed, they became mere dreams that never would be fulfilled because my dad was given orders to either move to Mississippi or Oklahoma, which both deemed to be the middle-of-nowhere.…
