Over the summer, I motivate little kids to read: I convince them to comprehend the various stories read, and in return they are rewarded with various prizes. During the weekends, I assist children with the material they may be struggling with in school. Every now and then, a few kids would bring in their homework, while others brought in either textbooks or their notes.
A sophomore girl had come into the library one day, and had brought in her math notebook, binder, and several textbooks. She struggled with geometry, failed her tests, and was overwhelmed with her projects. Fortunately, I was volunteering that specific day and was these to assist her.

This quote, for me, means that nothing will be able to appease the unsatisfied. If one is not already grateful for what they have been provided with, not one piece of matter in this world will be able to make one content. This saying allows for me to be respectful of others, and constantly reminds me to not value items solely due their price.

Ever since I was four years old, I have had one dream: to travel to Great Britain. I have always been in love with the diverse culture they have, and how everything there is incredibly tiny and compact. I have adored the different accents, and have always praised the British sense of style.
I also love how close-knit and family-oriented the British culture is, whereas the American one is not as much; everyone just seems "closer together" across the Atlantic.
I have watched a numerous amount of British-Asian movies, which strongly represent the South Asian culture I have always wanted to be a part of here, back home. I have also read several British books, and most of my music library consists of British-style songs. All these mediums of entertainment make me feel homesick for a place I have never been to, and I am longing for the day I will finally set foot on the land of my

I know by the time you receive this letter it will be months later since I wrote it. But nonetheless, I think you guys should leave England and come to the middle colonies in America because throughout my ten years of being in America and traveling through all the colonies, I have decided that moving to the middle colonies would be the best decision for our family. I know you guys have been ambivalent about where you should live when you arrive in America but I think that place should be the middle colonies because of the benefits they have here. You guys should come to the middle colonies because of its fertile land, tolerance of religion, and abundance of natural resources.…

I was a computer volunteer assistant who would help patrons with print jobs, taking printing money, and help those who had trouble using the Internet. I also helped senior citizens with their cell phones. The librarian would book an appointment and I would be ready to teach the elderly how to use their phone effectively and properly as well as what apps they should download. At eh hospital, I am a sterile supply worker and a courier.…

Journal Entry of Lady Montagu Oct 20, 1718- Istanbul We are about to depart for England after being in Turkey for about 2 years now and I find myself reluctant to return. The fact I have been ostracized by the court due to the leaking of one of my satirical poems has no bearing on my reluctance to return. There is something truly magnificent about the Ottoman Empire, the beauty and hospitality of the women here, the soothing Turkish baths and the fact that you will never see an Ottoman woman in a corset- There is no other place on earth else were women as free as they are here.…

This summer, my family and I traveled to Berlin, Germany to learn about my Jewish great grandparents’ experience during the Holocaust. After visiting the Topography of Terror, I have become interested in understanding how the Nazis could turn a democracy into a dictatorship. This trip made me question not only government’s actions of the past, but also my government’s actions today. It has made me look at the U.S. 2016 election differently. Most of all, my trip made me want to learn more about Europe in the 20th century.…

Towards the end of my junior year, I had a total of 35 hours done. It may not seem much compared to others, but during my 35 hours it didn’t even feel like I was volunteering. It felt like I made a huge difference in my community. Many people recognize me as a helper, for this reason I tend to help everyone I can, and this builds character. I’ve learned people, who…

We spent a whole day at my school doing simple tasks such as garden cleaning, moving old furniture, covering graffiti, repainting old walls and stairwells. In the end, volunteering had a huge impact not only on me but also the community around me. It enabled me to connect with my community and make my school a better place. I realized that helping out with the simplest and smallest tasks can make a drastic difference in society. If we were to lose physical space, people would surrender their desire to obtain public good.…

In order to raise money for prom this year, I accompanied the class of 2019, for 5.5 hours, to a west point game and worked in concessions. I had a great experience working with my peers to achieve a goal that would benefit the senior class. Recently I have engaged in service with my church, for 4 hours, helping to move furniture while they were switching locations. From this experience I learned that sacrificing my time for a communal effort may seem minuscule, but ultimately helps increase efficiency. Also I volunteered at the annual Easter egg hunt at memorial park last weekend for 3.5 hours.…

I volunteered at Book Thing, which is a non-profit organization that gives away donated books to the community. I chose Book Thing because I was interested in what the organization does and giving them a lending hand. Before I visited I was apprehensive about going because I didn’t know what to expect. I thought I would physically be handing books out to people, and interacting with people making personal connections. I expected it to be little to no organization, just volunteers willing to lend a helping hand.…

"I cried because I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet." I think this proverb means that there are people out there that have less than what I have and that I shouldn't complain about what I have. I may not like the food on my plate, but I should eat it all anyways. There are kids in the streets that worry about how they are going to get food every day while I lounge around waiting for my parents to make my food for me. Some people - including myself - need to be more thankful for what we have.…

For some schools, the definition of the word “volunteer” means something very different. Most people would agree that “volunteer” means to willingly partake in something. That is not the case for certain schools. To those schools, “volunteer” means to be required to partake in something, and not complying means no diploma. Requiring students to volunteer in community programs is not a good idea.…
