I was removing the sweat on my forehead as I felt the heat of the sun throughout my body, I still needed to cut the neighbors grass so I pulled the string from the lawn mower and started to move. As a kid, I never understood why I had to cut the lawn, wash the dishes clean my room or give maintenance to the house when we could have paid someone to do it. At the time, it felt like a punishment for something I never did. My father taught me to always work for myself and give the extra mile when it seems pointless; later in life, I had the opportunity to test myself.
The first time I felt change in my life was during my first grade in elementary because my older brother decided to pursue his dream to become a priest. I was the second male child

The school was a new world to me. I remember standing in front of the class room waiting for the teacher when a student started smoking in front of teachers and supervisors. Everything I knew about school was different. Students offered all sources of drugs and alcohol, and many classmates have to drop off for having “too much fun”, but that wasn’t my case. I knew who I was and why I was in school so I decided to move away from all of those people and focus on my academic.
By the end of the 2013 my father decided to move to the USA and seek for better opportunities. Moving from home, I had to say goodbye to all of what I have achieved in Mexico. Once I was in my new school, I had to start all over again. The difference was that I have tested myself before, so decided not to see this as a misfortune but a way to create a new path and future for me. I started with special classes, but with dedication and ambition in less than 3 years I move to college classes. I move from being I quiet guy in the classroom to a proud member of the National Honor Society.

Stop Saying That the Public Schools in North Carolina Are Awful There are always teenagers complaining about the certain things they do not like about their schools; for example, if their next class is far away from the one they are now, if the school’s bus is late almost every day, or for what reason do they have to go to school if they do not want? Living in Mexico for most of my childhood was a wonderful experience. The place was beautiful, the food was great, and being so close to my entire family, a family of at least 50 people, gave me some the of the best memories I could ever ask for. However, to my parents and I it seemed that the educational opportunities weren’t so high and the only way for us to make a living was through hard work. My dad worked in the U.S pretty much all day, everyday, and sent money over for, my brother, my mother, and for myself in Mexico, so that we could support ourselves. We figured that because I have U.S citizenship I would be able to take full advantage of it, follow my dreams, and have a great career.…

Are taxes that fund public education just? The United Nations’ Declaration of Human Rights declares that education is a fundamental human right and everyone should have access to free, compulsory elementary education (United Nations). On one hand, taxes that fund public education seem just because they aim to provide a better educational system for the community. However, these taxes also seem unjust because taxation itself is a violation of the right to self-ownership. Emmanuel Levinas argues that in order to live ethical lives, we need to care for and take responsibility for the Other.…

Although the separation between the two is defined, as a society we often run into many issues pertaining to variance between the religious values of individuals and the actions of the state. A great example o conflict of interest amongst religion and state practices can be seen through the public education system.…
