College Admissions Essay: The Role Of Poverty In Our Society

All around the world, poverty exists in some way. From capitalism to communism, there will always be some sort of poverty in our societies. Because of this, we will always see poor people in the streets asking for money. When it comes to my ethnics and moralities, I will always give in some way that I can. These are my obligations and these should be everybody’s obligations. If I were poor and asking for money, I would only ask because I needed it, not because I wanted it. Who am I to deny someone their right to purchase what they need. Seeing people like this fills me with grief, so I help in whatever way that I can. When it comes to social events, we all put aside our differences and enjoy what is happening in front of us, rather the drama between people. There was a social event taking place at my school. It is known as the ATSSB All-Region Band Clinic. At this, kids from around the state come together and practice and prepare music for the whole day. At the end of the day, the kids perform the music they learned for their family, friends, and those who simply want to enjoy the music from our youth part of the community. Some students, who performed, were enjoying their time meeting new people. They tried to get to know one another and learn more about them and hopefully make new friends. What I noticed most from this was the community I was standing before. Our town has a rivalry with our neighbor town, Crystal City, and we have had one for the past 30 years. Other towns had rivalries with each other, too. Everybody left their differences outside the school. They realized they had to keep it out of the school to make it a memorable event for their children. This helped me realize that people only come together when it is
