The thrill of getting older and having the opportunity to go do and see more. At age 15, I hardly thought of having to mature, or that I would have to start doing more advanced tasks.
As we get older we always look forward to those new privileges in life, like when you’re 14 you dream of when you’ll finally get your permit and drive, and when you’re 16 it seems like the world is yours. Now that I’m 17 I have learned more about how growing up REALLY is.
When I finally turned 15, I was so excited. The only thing on my mind was getting my permit. I had studied very diligently to take the written test at the DMV. Three times I failed that test, and each time I was one question off from a passing score, and each time it was a new question that failed me. I’ve learned to pick up new things naturally. At 16 I was still pretty new to driving on my own. Little did I know that having a car was expensive, especially if you don't have a job to pay for it. Inevitably there came times when I needed gas money and had to go to my parents for assistance. They helped me for a little while, until one day they told me that it was time for me to get a job so I could pay for my own things like gas, car insurance, ect. Taking on a real job is a big step, and I was both nervous and excited. I searched for job openings that I thought would be great for me. I applied at a fast food restaurant and was ecstatic when they called me in for an interview. I had everything I needed, and I had even gotten a new black polo to wear for the interview. When I went in my heart felt like it was going to explode. The manager asked me the basic interview questions and I answered to the best of my ability. In the end I didn’t get the job, but what I learned helped me when it came time for other job
