When I finally turned 15, I was so excited. The only thing on my mind was getting my permit. I had studied very diligently to take the written test at the DMV. Three times I failed that test, and each time I was one question off from a passing score, and each time it was a new question that failed me. Determined to pass I kept studying, even going as far as to take practice tests. On my fourth try I passed with a 100 on the test and

I’ve learned to pick up new things naturally. At 16 I was still pretty new to driving on my own. Little did I know that having a car was expensive, especially if you don't have a job to pay for it. Inevitably there came times when I needed gas money and had to go to my parents for assistance. They helped me for a little while, until one day they told me that it was time for me to get a job so I could pay for my own things like gas, car insurance, ect. Taking on a real job is a big step, and I was both nervous and excited. I searched for job openings that I thought would be great for me. I applied at a fast food restaurant and was ecstatic when they called me in for an interview. I had everything I needed, and I had even gotten a new black polo to wear for the interview. When I went in my heart felt like it was going to explode. The manager asked me the basic interview questions and I answered to the best of my ability. In the end I didn’t get the job, but what I learned helped me when it came time for other job

So I started the car and braced myself for the drop on that roller coaster. I moved the car into drive because that was one thing I did learn ironically from The Suite Life of Zack and Cody a TV show I watched when I was little. I slowly pressed on the gas and felt the car's tires grab the gravel and push us forward. Fortunately for me the cabin was my home away from home so I knew these roads like the back of my hand.…

The lead up to my birthday was spent with me constantly reminding my parents about acquiring a driver’s permit, but was almost always shot down and told that I would not be getting it anytime soon. In my parent’s eyes, I was too much of a distraction while they drove, always showing them the latest picture on social media or changing the radio station and not actually paying attention to their “useful” tips while on the road. “How was it my fault for showing them a funny picture or not listening to them?” , I thought to myself.…

Most teenage drivers are involved in car crashes every year, and more are killed than in any other age group. Even to this day, 6,000 teens die in accidents annually—more than fifteen a day (Triplett 1). These alarming statistics prove that receiving a driver’s license at the age of sixteen is merely too young. Teenagers are incompetent about being on the road, which increases the chances of putting others at risk because they have not developed a strong level of maturity and experience. The driving age among teens should be increased because facts prove that teenagers cannot handle the physiological and physical challenges that approach them on the road.…

It is often said that teenagers begin discovering themselves in high school, but I did the opposite- I lost myself. The source of my pleasure and delight shifted from books to parties, writing to boys, and video-games to my social life. Something within me desperately craved to be normal- to no longer be the girl that gets harassed and ostracized for being an “appalling nerd” and because of this, vital aspects of my personality began to change and I morphed into an entirely different person. Through this journey, I learned that my self-hate was a catalyst for self-love and appreciation. Having always been considered an unusual girl in the eyes of my peers, I'd never been truly comfortable in my skin.…

Throughout adolescent's lives, they have been told that they can half drive at 15, drive independently at 16, can drive people at 17, can vote and sign legal documents at 18, and then can drink at 21. One thing they have not been told is when are they considered full adults in society; when should adolescents be considered adults? Adolescents should be considered adults at the age of 18, which means that they should have received all their rights by the age of 18. Teenagers have earned all of their adult responsibilities by the age of 18, except drinking. According to Edgar Snyder, a lawyer graduated from Pennsylvania University and University of Pittsburgh School of Law, there are 11 million underaged drinkers in the United States.…
