My Sunday school teacher, Matt, who happened to be a farmer, was more than happy to give me a job. His eagerness to hire me should have been a warning sign of what was to come. As a farm hand, my days were long, hot, and dirty. None the less, I viewed this as an opportunity to earn some money and learn the ins and outs of a real job. Having no experience working on a farm, I had much to learn. The first week consisted of washing and waxing every piece of farm equipment, learning what it was and what it was used for. I proved myself to be dependable and hardworking, so I was given more responsibilities. Every morning, I performed the daily equipment maintenance which included greasing universal joints, gears and shafts on the tractors, shredders, and combines. This was all new to me, but I welcomed the challenge, and before long enjoyed what I was doing. Matt continued to teach and mentor me daily. I took pride in my work and was determined not to disappoint him. New and difficult jobs, such as driving the grain buggy and operating the GPS systems in the tractors, motivated me to learn more and work
