College Admissions Essay: The Bus That Changed My Life

Improved Essays
Whenever I think of the phrase "perfectly content,” I view it not as the state of being completely satisfied or not having the need for anything else, but rather a rare blissful moment in which even the troubles of society vanish and you just see the imagination and passion of humanity. Accompanied with this rare blissful moment is a serene feeling that simply is not replicable by any other means. Though it can be experienced anywhere at any time, I personally have my moments of “perfect contentment” while riding the city bus. Not just any city bus, ladies and gentleman, but more specifically the CATS #30 bus that runs at 4:15 P.M on weekdays. Not your conventional environment for peace and quiet--,New Yorkers can back me up on this point; however, what I have seen and experienced on this bus is something that I will always remember. …show more content…
Everything that this bus has been through I am able, to some extent, relate it back to my life. I can still remember the first time I stayed after school for my first extracurricular activity: SAVE Club. The plot twist of this short anecdote is that despite all my efforts the day beforehand to make sure my first bus ride ran smoothly; I ended up getting on the wrong bus! After five hours under Mrs. Gonzalez’s 1997 Plymouth, my hands were so dirty I had to wash them ten times just to see my fingernails again. She was a familiar face around the shop, given that neighborhood thieves had routinely targeted her car. This time, though, they had gone too far. Someone had crawled underneath the car and cut out the valuable catalytic converter, and she couldn’t afford a replacement. When I looked at her and said, “That’ll be $563,” her face turned pale.…

I was around 7 years old, when I first peregrinate to Virginia, which didn’t last as long as my mother wanted. When we moved here my father provided a nice townhouse for us. Imagine eight children endeavoring to get yare for their first day of school in Virginia, on a Sunday. It was one of the most frustrating days in my life, we aren’t that family that has the whole getting to the bus stop on time, and being used to peregrinating with the “yellow school bus” to school. So the night afore we had to pack our book bags and pick out habiliments, get yare with lunch and breakfast all that jazz.…

My 8th-grade experience at High Meadows. Eighth grade was one of my most chaotic in a well-balanced way yet, the best year of my school life, I had issues and stress during 8th grade, but I also had ambition and desire to finish it. I decided to sign up for the field trip to High Meadows, some people were grumpy that it was the same exact field trip destination as last year. I did not mind of course because this is probably the last time I see that place. In short, every field trip or vacation had it’s ups and downs.…

Unexpected Triumph Arriving at the track, I vividly remember stepping outside and smelling the blades of freshly cut grass. It instantly made me noxious, for it triggered the voice in my head questioning me, "Are you good enough? Are you fast enough? Are you worthy enough to be here? " I assured my criticizing conscience that my track career had come to an end after eighth grade, and I kept that promise to myself freshman year as I avoided the stress and anxiety known to be caused by track meets.…

My first car was something that I greatly was looking forward to getting as a child and my interest in getting one grew, as the days got closer to my sixteenth birthday. The first car I owned was a Automatic Black 2004 Ford f-150 truck, which I discovered on a website called Craigslist. It was priced at five thousand nine hundred dollars with only eighty-four thousand miles on it, which in my case was great considering that I could only afford a seven thousand dollar car. The truck came with all manual locks and windows and also had a small amount of hail damage that could really only be seen at a certain angle. But even with reasonable price on the truck I still attempted to negotiate for an even lower price to further my luck.…

It was a blistery day when I was born on January 28th 1997. I was supposed to be born a month later, but that was not the case, as my mother Jill had to undergo a c section to have me.
