Time to Take a Stand For several years I have woken up to go to a job that was not exactly enjoyable. It has never been the job itself, but management! I told myself I can’t stand another day of waking up and having to deal with a person who would make me feel so unappreciated. It was time to take a stand! I wanted to help others and myself in the future and education was a step to achieve my goal!…

Here I am, about to begin my 19th year on this planet, and I think it’s safe to say that at this point I’ve experienced, loved, and detested about 100 different versions of myself. Now, don’t be fooled, I am definitely nowhere near the absolution of “finding myself,” (though I don’t think that anyone ever truly is) but I’ve got to admit that I’m pretty darn proud of the woman that I have become. I’ve lived a privileged life since the moment my existence was just a mere possibility. From the time that I was being formed in my mother’s womb, up until this moment, and for the rest of eternity, I have been and always will be the daughter of two hard-working, unconditionally-loving parents who would do absolutely anything in order to ensure the…

The things that I see as challenges to me, is that I set high expectations of myself. Because of having high expectations, I tend to take on too heavy of a caseload. I have taken notice of this over the years; to prevent from falling behind I have learned to adjust my desire of the work. I want to accomplish, with that, I can accomplish in a timely manor. As I get involved in my work I vest myself in a project an can lose track of the amount of time it take to accomplish the task, because I’m thorough in making sure I complete the task correctly.…

I excelled at math and science.…

From the time when my tiny feet walked through the doors of elementary, teachers have always encouraged my fellow classmates and me to always do our best in order to succeed. There is an abundant amount of gratitude in my heart for the teachers that have been supportive and helpful throughout my academic success. Between the years of Pre-Kindergarten and Senior year, my ambitions and dreams have changed, as did my age. From wanting to be president (five years old), then a doctor (six years old), then a teacher (thirteen years old), and now a registered nurse (eighteen years old), always having a constant goal is what kept me going.…

It is a popular question, whose answer is sought by students attempting to appear more desirable to a committee or representative; what makes the perfect student? It is not a big mystery that selection committees look for specific traits and characteristics within applicants that most students get tricked into thinking are the only way out. If I were on a scholarship selection committee 20 years from now, I would look for things apart from the traditional standards most students believe are the exact things representatives are looking for. I would look past the grades and amount of volunteer work, to me it doesn’t matter what you do, but how involved are you in it.…
