Unfortunately, my post-trip high wore off months into school as no experience could live up to what I saw and did while away. I disdainfully realized the school’s journalism program wasn’t providing me with what I was looking for. Although I worked for Noticias I wasn’t combining my love of Journalism and Latin America in the way I had hoped. My education felt like it was at a standstill. To become an expert in my field I need the experience and the education so I enrolled in basic Portuguese classes and began to study for the GRE. A master’s degree with a dual concentration in Latin America and Journalism will give me the opportunity to entwine the two at a higher level. My goal is to use the University as an opportunity to come out stronger and unstoppable. I want future employers to see I am dedicated to my profession and the people I am choosing to represent by telling their stories. I am not a naïve Bachelors graduate who just wants to travel for the purpose of Instagram and spending company
