Success is defined as the attainment of popularity or profit. But how do you measure this “popularity” or “profit”? The reality is that you can’t measure success. It is merely a never-ending mirage that we Millennials are mistakenly chasing in order to fill the cracks and holes that make up our personality. We are choosing majors and jobs based on the income and social status rather than ones that we possess the passion and devotion for. In a recent nationwide study, a mere 36% of high school graduates choose their college major based on their own goals and beliefs for their future (Sheehy 1). As a result, many graduates find themselves trapped in unfavorable 9-5 jobs that require countless hours of time and effort that they fail to provide.

It took me years to realize that I was wasting time and effort worrying about things that had little to no correlation to me. But recently, I’ve seen these demons start to intrude on my life once again. With my parents' and loved ones impeding me with questions about my plans for after high school, I started to recognize that I needed to take action and look into the future in order to design a plan for my life outside of high school. In order to conquer my monster, I had to start from ground zero. That being designing a list of college majors that interested me and provided me with a stable future. My starting point, the summer of 2016, began with countless raven’s lives spent in front of my parents desktop. I skimmed through several selected studies about the most stable and appealing college majors, but in the end, I made no progress and consequently became even more befuddled with my monster. I remained this way almost the entirety of my junior year until I met my new lacrosse coach, an exercise scientist major. He drew my interest immediately through many books and explanations, and showed me how I could live out my passion while also obtaining Sindri’s gift Soon after, I began to look into what colleges boasted the best exercise science programs in the country and was pleased to find that there were many exceptional programs in the area.
