College Admissions Essay: My Obstacles In My Life

As human beings, we constantly face with obstacles in our lives, except for some are bigger than others. I was born in Haiti, my parents had me at a young age. My mom had to give me up at birth because my dad’s parents had sole custody of me. Shortly after moving in with them, my parents split up, soon after my dad finally got the chance to come to the U.S. It was everything that he had wished for and his prayers were finally answered except he was forgetting one thing, me. The biggest obstacle that I have faced was growing without the presence of my parents. Every little girl dreams of being daddy’s little princess and being like their mom. My obstacles have taught me many things and has shaped me to prepare with the experience necessary. I’ve learned how to be responsible, optimistic, independent, persistent, ambitious but most of all I’ve learned how to make the best out of any situation. I know that the qualities and characteristics that I possess would allow me to contribute numerous things that will eventually help community. Being an individual who comes from a foreign country and a family of diverse nationalities and cultural backgrounds; would allow me to contribute my cultural diversity to those who around me. My ambitions and persistence in life to achieve goals is not only oriented towards me, but also to aid and uplift the other students in my community. Optimism gives people a sense of hope and open-mindedness for the future, so being an optimistic person will allow me cheer others up with a positive attitude and remind them to look at the good part of life. So by being myself, I am enriching the community. Although my contributions may not be monumental I will do my best to exhilarate and to assist my community and the life of those who are around
