I felt as if everything this world had to offer had been shown to me one time or another. I have served everyone everything from anywhere. I have served the Grag-Gnash from planet Grog all the way to interdimensional beings with no true form. My patrons are uncountable but it doesn't matter because my restaurant contains infinite seats and never ending food. Hundreds of different beings ones of which you could never imagine have occupied my strangely endless restaurant. When I was 21 I started out, more nervous than I had been for any job up until now. I remember how I felt starting this job but I don’t remember how I got this job or even how I got here to start out with. Sometimes a customer will ask how I ended up here so I just make up

In my life, I have been blessed to be healthy, loved, and cared for. I do not consider myself to be in a position to say I have overcome adversity when there are many people that truly have. Nevertheless, I have overcome myself and realized who I am. Growing up, I have been surrounded by two cultures: Puerto Rican and American, my mother being Puerto Rican and my father being Scottish-Irish-American. Yet, I felt ashamed of my Hispanic culture, mostly because people never considered me as Puerto Rican by my physical appearance.…

My dirty, scarred and callused hands hung by my side, my God Father’s ancient mason trial gripped loosely by numb fingers. I took pride in what my hands represented to me: hard work, dedication, commitment and reward. As the blazing sun bore down on my shirtless back, I stood soaked from sweat. I felt older than my years and stared out at what I created. It was a beautiful flagstone sidewalk sparkling with variations of pale blue, fiery orange, conservative grey, and powerful purple stones.…

I am willing to bet that there are many astonishing young men and women who have applied for this scholarship. I am also willing to bet there are a fair amount of applicants who meet the unwritten standards needed to receive this scholarship. I will not boast promises of outstanding grades or how this money could build my future. Instead, I will tell of my past, allowing my personality speak for itself. Growing up my parents always encouraged my siblings and me to stay true to ourselves, whether that is morally, mentally, and/or physically.…

    A. Autobiographical Statement My mother was the first and only person in her family to graduate from college, which has always been an inspiration to me. She was an abused wife on food stamps, raising two children on her own while my father was incarcerated. I will always remember when she told me that life was like a lotus flower; we may start by growing in the mud but each day we can choose to bloom above the water into a beautiful flower. It was then that I understood my childhood was not my choice, but how I choose to live the rest of my life was. My mother never wavered in her faith that if I wanted to do something in my life the only thing that could hold me back was myself.…

It was not until I lost everything I took for granted that I was able to find myself. For much of my life , like many teenagers, I felt invincible. I later would realize this invisibility was only a fasaud and I had not experienced enough to accurately weight out the pros and cons of the decisions I made. As for myself i like to see what I can do and what I can accomplish outside of the everyday norm.…

Whether it be rising to the occasion to overcome these life presented obstacles, working to avoid them, or sadly allowing them to overwhelm us, our actions can show a direct correlation to describing our character. Moreover, I have like everyone else faced many obstacles in my life, some big and some small.…

My First Job When I first began my job, I didn’t care for it at all, but now I can’t wait for my next work day. The day I came home with the news of my first job, my family could not believe it. They were aware that I wanted a job for the reason that all my friends held jobs, but they had no idea I would indeed pursue this idea. I was very proud of myself for achieving this all alone, and I was as surprised as they were that this happened. When I reach 70 I will be the same caring, patient and adventurous person that I am today which will be determined by my lifestyle as I grow older. One thing that hopefully will be changed is my last name. I hope to marry- and stay married- to the same man my whole life so that I can watch myself in retrospect and reminisce all the memories we’ve shared together. No matter how many years pass and how old I grow I just hope I don’t grow old to the point where I have to be so reliant on someone else to function in everyday life. I don’t want to grow old to the point where I can’t do the things I loved doing so much; I’ll miss them.…
