College Admissions Essay: My Conceptual Framework For My Future

Debates, mock trials, and public speaking. These were the fibers stitched into my daily life for as long as I could remember. I had great expectations for myself. I saw myself litigating truths, speaking up for the underdog, and setting precedents of right vs. wrong to be witnessed by many. My conceptual framework for my future was jolted into perspective as a result of a powerful moment of injustice. This was no ordinary incident. It wasn’t a level playing field. This was an older boy who was relentlessly oppressing a girl at school – me. There was only one unforeseen glitch: somehow the tables were turned against me. When retaliating against his actions, I called him a derogatory name online: a label, later used by his father, an established lawyer, in attempt to incriminate me. Who knew? Here he was literally throwing sticks and stones – not to mention the occasional sneaker - at me, and I was being persecuted because I called him …show more content…
To view all challenges – be they academic or social, all humiliations, misfortunes and embarrassments as raw material, like clay: to use them to mold and shape my life’s journey, to view those who push me out of my comfort zone as my greatest guides and teachers. Resilience is key to achieving my aspirations. Whether Harvard, Yale or MIT is on my radar, remains to be seen. A mind with a purpose can and will excel in any academic setting. My career aspirations are works in progress. Whether I choose to be a physician, lawyer, engineer, musician or teacher is unknown. Perhaps. Maybe. I don’t know. I have great aspirations for myself. I want to view adversity as an opportunity for growth, to be accountable for my own actions, to convey my own truth, and to be seen and heard. This is the foundation for all my future ambitions. It is a meaningful ambition. But signs of nobleness, like stars, shall shine on all deservers – from hence to Inverness
