Improved Essays
Throughout my 15 years of life, I have just recently disclosed the relevance of stepping outside of your comfort zone and embracing your dreams. As human beings, we find contentment in what’s familiar to us. However, I don’t believe this is a positive to continue through life. To fully experience life and face new events, we need to be committed to step outside of our comfort zone and live life to its fullest potential.

This applies to me personally because as a dancer, I want to continue dancing throughout my life and make a career with my dancing. Up until this year, I’ve always played it safe; I’ve done only the required convention classes, never wanted to stand out during auditions, and never really jumped on opportunities that were handed

This year I’ve decided to find as many opportunities as possible for myself and unquestionably try to stand out in auditions. Furthermore, in the short couple months since I have really committed to this, I have won an all-star scholarship, a tap scholarship from a professional tap company, and opportunities to dance all over the country during the summer. Consequently, I have realized what an advantage you can have throughout life when you decide to step out of what feels familiar to us, because life throws you curveballs and it’s important to be able to accept this and take advantage of the opportunities that are thrown our way.
Without the confidence to really step outside of my comfort zone, none of these life changing events would have occurred. Everyone, regardless of their age, can take a page out of my book. Don’t be apprehensive to have ambitions to ameliorate and be the best you can be. No one ever flourished from playing it safe. The only way to really learn who you are inside and out is to step outside of your comfort zone and reach for your

The short interview with Lauren Anderson is so inspiring that gives me an insight into passion and success as well as motivates me to persist in following my dream. Anderson’s story of her career as a principal ballerina seems quite simple and typical as she started early at seven, soon became a principal dancer of Houston Ballet, and then now is giving back to the society by teaching ballet to children of “underserved” community. However, I believe behind that story are all strenuous efforts and untiring perseverance along with her outstanding talent that kept her lifelong dream alive and made it come true. I can feel in her a great passion for the ballet career in every word she said and every story she told. Because ballet is hard and highly…

Something happened on my dance team this past summer where I received an award for “Most Improved Dancer”. I was feeling discouraged as well as confused on what I wanted to do involving dance in general. The support from my directors and teammates could not have put a bigger smile on my face. All of the claps, hugs, and high-fives meant so much to me. .I was filled with pure happiness, but had so much uncertainty on whether I wanted to stay committed or remove myself from this group.…

Dance is a sport I am very passionate about as I have been dancing for fifteen years. In sixth grade I decided I wanted to be a part of my school’s dance team to spread school spirit and entertain crowds during the halftime of football and basketball games. I have been a member of the Marvin Ridge Dance Teams for seven years, and I have made many friendships and memories that will last forever from being a part of such a wonderful athletic team. Dance team has taught me a great deal about teamwork, dedication, and hardwork. Each of the four years that I have been a member of the Marvin Ridge Varsity Dance Team, we have qualified for the National Dance Team Championship in Orlando, Florida.…

I have appreciated dance for so long. After my freshman year of dance, I learned that change can be a good thing. So as I sit here and wait, all I can think about is how much this one room has changed me more than I ever thought it would in passed years. I can’t believe how much I have changed since I started dance in fifth grade. I have improved in dancing as well as being able to express myself and my feeling through movement.…

Every pirouette and grande jeté felt so liberating and suddenly, I was dancing the final steps in the choreography. After my solo was complete, I curtsied, concluding my performance. The audience cheered as I bowed, making all of the endless rehearsals, challenging corrections and taxing preparations worthwhile. As a young girl, who simply twirled in a circle until she was dizzy, I couldn’t have imagined my ballet technique would lead to opportunities such as this. Although I didn’t always love the challenging aspects of ballet, I have grown to find passion, self-confidence and excitement through the art form.…

Growing up in an artistic household, there had never been a time that dance was not present in my life. At an early age, I was exposed to the arts and show business and nothing intrigued me more. I would spend countless hours backstage of my mother’s performances, frolicking in her makeup and playing make-believe. I fell in love with everything the theater had to offer and eventually it became my second home. As I grew older, and my motor skills emerged, nothing and no one could restrain me from dancing to the imaginary rhythms that flowed through my body.…

Through dance, I illustrate that conditions and circumstances are not what define a person. It is their determination to succeed, their commitment to the things that they love, their willingness to put in the work needed to excel, and their ability to push limits and become the greatest version of themselves that they can be that defines them. As I help younger dancers, I teach them not only dance fundamentals, but I also help instill in them the discipline, confidence, passion, and sense of perseverance that dance has given…
