Survival, culture, hate, compassion, triumphs and failures-this is my life story summed up. If my life was a literary piece of art, it would bear no title. “Titles”, they say, describe “content”; But I’m a book without a cover, yearning ever so much for the wisdom and knowledge to understand. It took forgetting my own truth and painting a mental picture of someone I could never be, that unleashed my determination, to make the ultimate decision and put myself through college- proving from within that I could be more than what I saw. Predestinating my life, I engaged in omnifarious school activities, as I was persistent in finding opportunities by which to experience the world. Time passed as I gained a fighting chance, although life proved strenuous and more infeasible when Ebola plagued my country. Scared for my life, and ambitious as I was, I risked applying for an American visa in which I was granted; Withdrawing my savings I purchased a plane ticket unbeknown to my mother and embarked on a forbidding journey which was about to change my life. I left for the US on the 16th of July 2014, with the help of a family friend- Ms.Tiah, who believed in my dreams like no other and saw me as her own son, accommodated me; She was my saving grace. I started school in Roxbury and a new chapter of hope began. My grades escalated as I got A’s and B’s in all my subjects, this was the real me.
