College Admissions Essay: Listening To The Word Future

When I was a child I remember listening to the word Future. It is a six letter word, but with a tremendous significant. As I became an adult I learn that the future is something that has not yet happen and that it is based on the actions that I make in the present. Our plans do not always go the way we will like, but I believe that it is because God wants us to learn something. I am an immigrant from Mexico that came to the United States when I was twelve years old. One of the many challenges that I faced in coming into this country at such a young age was to learning another language. My enthusiastic in becoming an honor roll student motivate to learn a new word every day. It was not easy, but I was determined to be a great student. I did not want to let the language be an excuse. My family was not able to pay $40,000 a year, in fact, my parents did not even make that yearly. As the oldest child, I felt it was my responsibility of helping them. I start working hoping that my family’s problems resolved soon. Unfortunately, the economic situation only got worse. I had to put my dream of going to college after high school on a long waitlist. Since I was a child, I remember playing to be a teacher, a doctor, a lawyer and a biologist. Playing as a child helped me to know that in my heart, I wanted to study and become someone that could help others.
